Conceived by Phoenix Design and built by Loewe Opta GmbH, the Modus L37 LCD TV won last year the Red Dot Design award in the Product Design category, for the image of a home TV display with a young look, enhanced by the Flat TV Stand 4.
It has a black interior screen frame that sets the interesting optical accent helping in the creation of a high image contrast.
Sustained by Stand 4 the TV is a stand-alone unit that can be tilted two steps and rotated manually in any direction preferred by the user, and it can also be mounted on the wall or integrated into other brushed-aluminum-like home systems.
Modus L37 has a 37-inch diagonal, is HD enabled and its format is 16:9 widescreen.
The key features of the winning TV model include Automatic Movie Detection, 500 cd/m2 brightness, 800:1 contrast ratio, 178 degrees viewing angle, a 1366 x 768 resolution, 9 ms response time, Split Screen and Teletext.
The sound system used consists of a 2 x 15 Watts audio power amplifier output, 2 x 2-way closed speakers, 2-channel stereo sound and Virtual Dolby Surround.
Besides these, Modus L37 brings with also the radio function with automatic station detection system, 1670 programme positions, and DVB-C/DVB-S function.
It consumes 163 kWh per year, weighs 23 Kg and can be found at the online stores at around $3,340.
While waiting for the Red Dot Design Awards’ winners list, I will show you another beautiful product that won the design award last year.
It is an LCD TV created by TCL THOMSON Electronics and its called Arboria.
The name of this model is probably suggesting a tree as the TV looks like growing from the wide base having those nice curved margins creating the transition to the display area.
I couldn’t find Arboria on the official website of its producer so I can only speculate about the relationship between the design and the name.
It measures 20 inches in diagonal and integrates the speakers in its base part.
Arboria can be colored in two tones, three tones or can come with the nice colored flowers on the margins.
The owner can choose the final aspect according to the tastes and the other elements in the room.
One of the latest additions to the Zepto LCD TV line is the Zview 26”, nice designed TV coming with two delivering options: Standard with the basic equipments and Deluxe which includes a wall mount, the 2m HDMI Gold cable and the special screen cleaner, this at a higher price starting at £409.88, from £356.44, the cost for the Standard model.
The 26-inch widescreen is a WXGA type with 1366 x 768 pixels native resolution, High Definition capability, a 12000:1 contrast ratio, and the TV model is equipped with DVB-T and Analogue tuner and a built-in subwoofer for strong sound details.
Other characteristics include an 8 ms response time, an 180 degrees viewing angle which is ok and a number of 1000 pages for the text TV response.
Zepto Zview 26” works based on the Pixel Precision Engine which renders the images sharper.
One of the most requested HDTVs on the market is Samsung LN-T4665F, a 46-inch LCD TV with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio and 15000:1 contrast.
The specification list shows that it is capable of displaying great sharp images, vivid colors and clear motion, with its 8 ms response time capability.
The audio coming from it is enhanced by the SRS TruSurround XT technology on which the two side speakers and the 2.2-channel dome speakers are relying on to deliver premium quality sounds.
It is not only of a higher quality than other existent models but it’s also cost-effective being available at around $2,400, and stylish designed, just to deliver the whole home TV entertainment package.
