Sony BRAVIA W4000

Sony has just released a new BRAVIA LCD TV series, the W4000 with more design improvements, 1080p full HD, AVC-HD tuner and the new BRAVIA ENGINE 2 in charge with a complex signal processing for extra depth, richness and image clarity which only Sony BRAVIA TV models deliver.

<-250x250 Square - right->I m talking about 64 times more colors than what the existent TVs can reach which translates to tones closer to the real life’s colors.
The BRAVIA ENGINE is a collection of image processing technologies acting as a total digital processing studio to enhance the image quality from any signal, resulting in clearer, sharper and natural images.

The BRAVIA ENGINE EX is one of the engine’s versions which is programmed to add some important improvements besides the one mentioned, and here we have noise reduction, enhanced contrast and more natural color using Digital Reality Creation to up-scale standard definition inputs by quadrupling the pixels’ number for reaching High Definition quality.

BRAVIA ENGINE Pro version is the most advanced version of the BRAVIA ENGINE bringing advanced Digital Reality Creation to enhance HD inputs for extra clear and sharp image levels.

The full specification list is not published yet but among the news brought by the series we find the Picture Frame Mode which allows to user watch HD pictures when the TV is not in use, adding a special look to the room environment by reducing the brightness when set on this mode.
The user can play with the six pre-installed pictures ranging from Pop art to Van Gogh paintings, or bring his/her own photos via the USB Photoviewer.
Picture Frame Mode consumes about 35% less power than normal TV viewing mode, which is not a very large difference but it does count to the overall power consumption.

BRAVIA W4000 also comes with the Sony XMB interface, BRAVIA Sync technology, HDMI connectivity for Home Theatre systems, a Wide Colour Gamut Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp, the Live Colour Creation, and the xvYCC color space for moving images – RGB standard replacement – for displaying content recorded on the newest digital camcorders that support xvYCC.

Other features include the DVB-T digital tuner, 24p True Cinema mode to see a movie exactly as it was recorded.
The exterior design is stylish, simple, showing the Midnight Sky bezel and the subtle illuminated Sony logo.

“The BRAVIA W4000-Series starts from a position of great strength,” said George Damigos, General Manager for TVOE Marketing. “Its combination of advanced picture technologies delivers a new standard of excellence which it deploys to maximum effect. And you quite literally see this, whether you are being blown away by Full HD resolution films or immersed in HD gaming, or quietly appreciating the richness and detail of a still image in Picture Frame Mode.”
