During 16-20 April, at Fondamenta Jahier Via Solari 37-39 in Milan, Italy, will take place the Japan Design 2008 exhibition hosted by 15 Japanese companies which focus on design innovation.
JVC’s LT-42DS9 LCD display concept is not only a television but it uses special technologies such as mechatronics, high-quality audio and video, high efficient encoding, as well as high-density recording and playback, to create the right sound environment capable of bringing the viewer into the realism of the video experience.

It is a slim device at only 74 mm, conceived by Airy Design and JVC with a floating image-like effect, touch-sensitive buttons, and thin glossy bezel.
Features include DynaPixHD video processor, full HD, 7,500:1 dynamic contrast ratio, DVB-T-Tuner, 500 cd/m2 brightness, and 178/178 degree viewing angle.
It measures 981 x 627 x 74 mm at a weight of 19.5 kg.

The AV Furniture Prototype is an accessory created for the JVC’s slim TV concept, designed to look stylish, and made of a special metallic frame that gives the impression of a floating TV.
The user can swivel to the desired viewing angle and place additional audio equipment in the box.

JVC removed the window on the rack door used for checking equipment operation and replaced it with a separate high-sensitivity infrared receptor mounted on the flap door of the rack which transmits remote control signals to stored equipment.

Sony BRAVIA W4000

Sony has just released a new BRAVIA LCD TV series, the W4000 with more design improvements, 1080p full HD, AVC-HD tuner and the new BRAVIA ENGINE 2 in charge with a complex signal processing for extra depth, richness and image clarity which only Sony BRAVIA TV models deliver.

<-250x250 Square - right->I m talking about 64 times more colors than what the existent TVs can reach which translates to tones closer to the real life’s colors.
The BRAVIA ENGINE is a collection of image processing technologies acting as a total digital processing studio to enhance the image quality from any signal, resulting in clearer, sharper and natural images.

The BRAVIA ENGINE EX is one of the engine’s versions which is programmed to add some important improvements besides the one mentioned, and here we have noise reduction, enhanced contrast and more natural color using Digital Reality Creation to up-scale standard definition inputs by quadrupling the pixels’ number for reaching High Definition quality.

BRAVIA ENGINE Pro version is the most advanced version of the BRAVIA ENGINE bringing advanced Digital Reality Creation to enhance HD inputs for extra clear and sharp image levels.

The full specification list is not published yet but among the news brought by the series we find the Picture Frame Mode which allows to user watch HD pictures when the TV is not in use, adding a special look to the room environment by reducing the brightness when set on this mode.
The user can play with the six pre-installed pictures ranging from Pop art to Van Gogh paintings, or bring his/her own photos via the USB Photoviewer.
Picture Frame Mode consumes about 35% less power than normal TV viewing mode, which is not a very large difference but it does count to the overall power consumption.

BRAVIA W4000 also comes with the Sony XMB interface, BRAVIA Sync technology, HDMI connectivity for Home Theatre systems, a Wide Colour Gamut Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp, the Live Colour Creation, and the xvYCC color space for moving images – RGB standard replacement – for displaying content recorded on the newest digital camcorders that support xvYCC.

Other features include the DVB-T digital tuner, 24p True Cinema mode to see a movie exactly as it was recorded.
The exterior design is stylish, simple, showing the Midnight Sky bezel and the subtle illuminated Sony logo.

“The BRAVIA W4000-Series starts from a position of great strength,” said George Damigos, General Manager for TVOE Marketing. “Its combination of advanced picture technologies delivers a new standard of excellence which it deploys to maximum effect. And you quite literally see this, whether you are being blown away by Full HD resolution films or immersed in HD gaming, or quietly appreciating the richness and detail of a still image in Picture Frame Mode.”

Mitsubishi GalleryPlayer Partnership

“At this year’s CES, we saw more and more TV manufacturers launching new models with features that either connect the TV to the Internet or feature USB interfaces to enable the playback of high value digital content. We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Mitsubishi and today’s announcement further validates how the industry is seeing the revenue generating potential in digital content,” said Paul Brownlow, President and Founder of GalleryPlayer, the inventor of HD Lifestyle Imagery technology meant to increase the production efficiency and enhance the presentation, rights management, promotion and cross-platform distribution of high definition rights-protected imagery via the Internet, cable and consumer electronics products.

This way, Paul Brownlow is announcing the collaboration with Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America to embed HD art and photography in 2008 flat screen models, along with several TV manufacturers that formed a team working on offering digital media content to customers.
Besides using GalleryPlayer’s technology in its new HDTV line, Mitsubishi will also create a co-branded presentation website from where customers will be able to purchase the models and download, manage and export the photos from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and National Geographic.

Mitsubishi became one of the world’s leaders in HDTV industry after coming with its proprietary technologies such as the 1080p DLP 6-Color Light Engine that enables a wider range of colors and whiter whites, generating yellow, cyan and magenta directly, without combining red with green and blue. It is the world’s first TV manufacturer that uses the sixth color, magenta, for picture creation.
