Computers are very much appreciated nowadays because we have all become more aware of their importance in the world of technology in which we live. Monitors are important components which positively influence the performance of computers as long as they are good quality ones. Nowadays, almost all of us use computers which include liquid crystal display type of monitors.

In the past, we used to work with cathode ray tube type of monitors but they are no longer considered as very useful for us and we are nowadays searching for better performing computer monitors to work with. Certainly, all of these monitors present advantages and disadvantages but what is very important is for us to be able to recognize which characteristics determine monitors to be well performing for the purposes for which we intend to use them and which ones decrease their performance.

In this way, we will be able to compare various products and, in the end, to decide which is the best one for us to use in order to be effective in our work activities and other types of activities in which we might decide to involve the use of our computers.

Nowadays, computer users have become more concerned with the quality of their monitors as they have realized their importance and the fact that these components influence the quality of their computers and of their results within all sorts of activities in which they need to use computers in order to be productive. Among the many types and models of computer monitors available these days for users to analyze, buy and work with, plasma computer monitors have also been taken in consideration by many users in the last few years as they have been considered to present certain good features which might enable them to work properly with these components in all sorts of activities and situations.

Like any other type of computer displays, plasma computer monitors are also known to present disadvantages as well as advantages and their features are different from one model to another and this is why it is very important for users to firstly analyze certain offers of products that they might be interested in working with and afterwards to decide what is their opinion concerning those products.

Among the advantages which have been considered for plasma computer monitors to present can be mentioned the fact that they are said to be compact and light, the fact that most of them present high contrast ratios, the fact that many of these monitors are known to present high response times and the fact that their color support has been many times appreciated.

Many of the plasma type of computer monitors have also been considered to present zero saturation and brightness distortions but certainly this cannot be generalized to all models of such computer displays. The types of inputs included within many of these monitors have also been considered as advantageous features. These inputs are DVI, VGA and HDMI.

Among the drawbacks considered to be presented by plasma computer monitors can be mentioned the large dot pitch presented by some of them, the flicker which appears at close range in some cases of plasma computer monitors, the high operating type of temperature in certain models, the high power consumption in comparison to other types of computer monitors and the input lag which characterizes some of these monitors.

These features, either considered as advantageous or disadvantages do not characterize all plasma computer monitors at the same level as there are many differences which can be noticed between different models of such computer displays. In this respect, it s important to be mentioned the necessity for users to carefully analyze any model of computer monitors that they intend to buy and use so that they might make the best decision for themselves.

VCRs use a signal named analog signal that will transmit images and sounds to the input device that is connected as a TV or a monitor, and for this to happen the signal should be converted from analog to digital so you can hook up your VCR to your computer. Although all of this may sound very complicated it is not. You can successfully do this with a low-cost device that captures video to the computer.

This will allow you to add components that are analog to the computer devices to view it on the monitor and will allow you to capture the video from the signal that will be external like the VCR that will edit it much later. This model includes also the ATSC and the NTSC tuners for analog and digital signals that pleased the researchers in both series of tests. In higher def clips, the greens and the reds were correctly saturated and despite the ambient there was still possible to have a very good contrast and vivid and natural colors. Turned into a balanced on the narrow stand, the unit is black and silver sitting on an also black and silver base. Its design is one of the top favorites designs on the market.

The connectors on the 32 inches computer monitor are a little hard to get to but you do have plenty of them, Dell's signature. You can find yourself trying to contort your body to view the labels that every connector has by using the swiveling stand.

The 32 inches Dell computer monitor has two composite inputs, two component and one HDMI but it has a disadvantage as the fact that it lacks the digital optical and audio input that other models may offer. Altought they may have color code print on the cables some of them would have needed labels because they do require a lot of guessing work. The remote control matches the set of black and silver design, resembling with the iPod navigation controller but it only has four buttons for directional reasons instead of a wheel control system.

The remote will only work with the TV and not with the rest of the components but its all right because those buttons are extremely well organized and you will find that the on screen menus of the 32 inches W3207C computer monitor are very easy to use. It will appear on the bottom the main menu and while the sub menus will float in the middle of the screen. On the side of the Tv panel you will find a bunch of Tic Tac shaped buttons. The silver labels are hard to read and you can find yourself trying to decipher letters but all the rest of the controls were easily activated because of the manual that has a special section for this particular problem in a three different languages.

The built in speakers were not rated that good, most of the listeners finding the audio area very dull and flat. It is disappointing because of the fact that Dell stated that these are the same speakers that were in the previous version of the 32 inches computer monitor but that this time they were not detachable. In the W3201C's reviews, the audio system was found clear and with clarity to the sound unlike this upgraded feature that we are talking about right now and also because they are not detachable anymore you can't expect to make a better stereo audio system by detaching them and moving them further away for a better broadcasting of the sound.
However this Dell computer monitor is very good for its image quality and is one of the top picks on the market.

The very inexpensive 32 inches computer monitor Vizio VX32LHDTV has the lowest price on the market for these types of monitors, and by that we mean $700, which is almost half of the price that the other 32 inches computer monitors are for sale. But let us see that if its only the price that is excellent about this computer monitor. In the graphics test, the VX32LHDTV was ranked with almost the highest mark; these rankings were made by the users alone. The high definition video was excellent to view although it showed a little pixilation. On the ranking scores, this unit has only six points in minus then the $1600 Toshiba 32HL66, while for some users Vizio is considered even better.

Of course the low price comes with some setbacks like the TV will not swivel or will not allow height adjustment and the speakers are embedded in a silver bar that is distracting. The connectors are placed on the rear of the computer screen and it is very uncomfortable but they have a nice color matching coded set.

This 32 inches computer monitor has many inputs, two composite, two HDMI, one S-Video a VGA and a two sets of components. The on screen menus appear bubbly and very easy to navigate from. It has incorporated also RGB controls for all your custom settings and this unit will offer you display in picture - in picture, having power, channel and volume buttons. For the price that it has, Vizio offers the best image and many other features and of course you will find better on the market but you will surely have to pay more.

Not being the best buy but on the top five for sure it sits, the 32 inches Panasonic TC-32LX60 is the most attractive HDTV LCD which has a very stylish design of black and silver and a stand that sets it apart from the other 32 inches monitors. You can have it all for the price of $1200. In the tests that there were performed, the Panasonic computer monitor has a very good performance on the video and graphics field but there are some products on the market like for instance the Westinghouse LTV - 32w6, which has a better image and a better price on it, $999 but it present an interesting audio experience for all the audiophiles out there having only problems with the base line at the highest volume.

Plasma Computer Monitors

Published by HighDisplay, on September 17th, 2009, in the categories: Plasma Monitors

In July 1964 the first prototype for a plasma monitor was invented by professor Donal Bitzer and Gene Slottow at the University of Illinois but only after the digital era began was possible the plasma computer monitors.  From Wikipedia we know that a plasma monitor is a display of emissive panel flat display where phosphors create light excited by discharge of the plasma between the two flat panels of glass. In the 60s televisions sets were used as computer monitors in the University of Illinois for the network. The inventors researched this plasma display as the alternative to the television cathode ray tube based that was used.

This kind of display has to be refreshed constantly which could be manageable for the broadcasts and video component but very bad for the graphics display. With one single cell, the team that was made out of Donald Bitzer, Gene Slottow and Robert Wilson, succeeded in making the first plasma computer monitor. Nowadays, there are used millions of cells by the plasma televisions. In 1964, television companies tried to develop plasma televisions giving an alternative to the cathode ray tubes but the LCD or liquid crystal display was the one that really made possible the flat screen television and this will stop the future development of the plasma displays.

Many years passed by until people recognized the usefulness of the plasma computer monitors, and they became successful only because of the efforts of one man, that man being Larry Weber. Comparing the two devices that are now on the market, and I mean by that the LCD and the plasma flat panel we see that the seconds are lighter and thinner than the majority of the direct rear and view projection TVs. With the appropriate kind of equipment they can hang from any kind of surface, being easy and easy to travel with.

plasma-computer-monitors

The weakness in the past of the LCD monitors and plasma monitors were the fact that you could fit much more and better technology inside a television but nowadays that was beaten to the punch, the only thing that got bigger now being the price, many DLP televisions costing less then the LCD or plasma competitors. It has been proven that the plasma monitor has got a better picture than the LCD monitor being able to process the motion even better and faster.

They actually cost less except the high-end plasmas that will cost you more than an LCD monitor. The thing is, when you choose plasma you go big, because they do not come any smaller than 42 inches and with the LCDs you will not have that kind of issue, being on the market on all sizes. At the end of the day you kind of push them into the same category, the LCD monitors and the plasma computer monitors, because they are all flat panel screens, they look almost the same and the prices do not differ so much.

So the general opinion is that you want a new flat monitor for playing games and computer interactivity that I would suggest you the LCD monitor and if you decided that you want to watch the game in HD or just use the video component much more I am going to vote with the plasma. Before you purchase any of the two be more informed because the market is full of devices that will just fulfill your needs.

What Is A Computer Monitor?

Published by HighDisplay, on September 9th, 2009, in the categories: CRT TV, LCD monitors, Plasma Monitors

We all use our computers every day and we know quite a little bit about the gadgets that it has and it needs to perform at its maximum capacity but does not anyone knows how to explain exactly what is a computer monitor and what makes it so important for the computer use. The computer monitor is an output device that is part of the display of your computer.

The monitor is connected to a video adapter or a video card through a cable and it is installed on you computers' motherboard in an expansion slot. The system changes the signal into images, displays and text like on a TV like screen - the monitor. The video adapter receives a signal from the computer that tells it what kind of image, character and graphic should it display. That signal is converted by the video adapter into a set of instructions that say to the display device, the monitor, how and why to draw on the screen the imagine.

The 'picture tube' or the CRT, Cathode Ray Tube is like a large vacuum tube that is shaped like a bottle. It tapers in the back where there is a negative charged cathode or as it is called 'electron gun'. This electron gun shoots electrons to the back of the positive charged screen which has a coat of phosphorous chemical. This excites the phosphor making it glow as individual dots, as we know pixels (picture elements). The imagine that we see on the computer screen is made up from thousands of these dots, pixels.

what-is-a-computer-monitor(2)

The quality of the imagine has to do with the distance between the pixels and if the distance between the pixels is too big the imagine will appear grainy. The main issue is that the closer the pixels are the clearer and sharper would be the imagine. That distance is called dot pitch and the best monitor you should get is with .28 mm dot pitch or less. If we are to look at the computer monitor from an environmental point of view, the most difficult computer peripheral to dispose of is the monitor because of the lead that the monitor contains.

A couple of electromagnets ( yokes ) are around the collar of the tube that bend the beam of electrons which scans all across the monitor from left to right and top to bottom to draw or to create the image line by line.
