Before deciding to buy the monitor there are some things that you need to take in perspective. First of all you need to think about the tasks that you usually perform on the computer. If you like to watch movies and play games, then a large computer monitor might be the better choice for you. A larger monitor will allow you to play the games and watch the movies much better and will be able to provide a much clearer quality. A 21 or 22 inch computer monitor might be the best choice in this case.

On the other hand, if all you do on computer are the basic tasks such as browsing the internet, sending e-mails, and so on, then you should buy a smaller monitor, a 17 inch one would be perfect for you in this case. Anyway the size of the monitor is very important and I would advise you to buy one which has at least 17 inches. One of the main benefits of the LCD computer monitors is the fact that they are way smaller than the CRT ones and weigh less than the LCD ones. Even if the monitor has an increased size you will still be able to place it on the desk and it will not bother you.
The resolution of the monitor is important as well. The resolution indicates how many pixels are present on the screen. A resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels means that there are 1024 by 768 pixels present on the screen. The bigger the resolution the better because the more icons you will be able to place on the desktop. In the case of the multipurpose computers, the typical resolution would be 1920 by 1200 pixels.

The interface is important as well. Most of the computer monitors have a DVI interface and if you would like to connect a multimedia device the LCD computer monitor should have a HDMI interface as well. Some monitors even have USB hubs which means that you can connect the keyboard and the mouse directly to it.
