Desktop Computer Monitors

Even if the monitor of a computer does not make it run faster and improve its overall performance, the desktop computer monitor is an essential component because it can make a huge difference when it comes to productivity and comfort. There are various types of desktop computer monitors and in what follows I am going to give you some information about them.

The most common monitors nowadays are the LCD ones. It seems that they have completely replaced the old CRT monitors because they are way better, and they bring lots of benefits. The problem with the cathode ray tube monitors is the fact that they are too big and heavy, which means that they occupy too much space. The LCD monitors are less heavy and take far less space, and this is why the people prefer them. There is another type of monitors as well, and these are the plasma monitors. The plasma monitors look exactly like the LCD monitors, the only difference being the technology.

You should know that all of these computers have different connections and it is important for the connection of the monitor to match the one of the computer otherwise you will not be able to use it. There is the VGA connection which is used mostly by the older monitors. The newer monitors have different connections and like I said make sure that the connections between the monitor and the computer are of the same kind.

One of the most important aspects when it comes to the computers is the screen size, which can be obtained by measuring the distance between two opposite diagonals. The most common monitors are the 17” ones, but there are also 19”, 21” and even bigger monitors available. The size of the monitor will also influence the resolution, which represents the numbers of pixels which can be displayed on the screen. The higher the resolution is the more pixels will fit on the screen. Nowadays the resolutions of the monitors are getting bigger and bigger, for example most people use a 1280 by 1024 pixels resolution, whereas in the past they used a 800 by 600 pixels resolution.

The refresh rate is important as well because it represents the number of times the pixels are changed each seconds. For example a refresh rate of 60MHz means that the pixels are changed 60 times per second. The refresh rates are influenced by the size of the computer monitors, as there are some which can have a refresh rate of 85MHz or even more. It is advisable to use a bigger refresh rate because a smaller one might be bothering for the eyes. This was my information on the desktop computer monitors.
