Having a good computer monitor is considered nowadays very important because it represents a main component within the computer improving it in the case in which it is a very good quality one that presents an attractive design. It is very important to be very careful when choosing what kind of computer monitor to buy. There are many types of features that need to be analyzed before deciding which of the many offers present on the market might be the best one. Nowadays, almost everyone uses a Liquid Crystal Display type of computer monitor. This is because it is the newest type and has replaced the old one, the Cathode Ray Tube type of monitor. Many users have already forgotten about how it was to work with the old model of computer displays. LCD computer monitors are nowadays widely used and their manufacturers are always trying to improve their products, to include new types of features so that their products might become better and better in order to attract more clients.
The Liquid Crystal type of display has become nowadays the most popular device that users decide to include within their computers, especially because it is considered to include an innovative technology which makes them much better than the old ones. This type of technology is known under the name of thin film transistor. The opinions are anyway divergent in this respect. Many users consider them very good in comparison with the old type of monitors but also consider certain advantages and disadvantages related to different models of LCD computer monitors and also of different types of features that the manufacturers have decided to incorporate within their product. There are advantages and disadvantages about the Cathode Ray Tube type of computer monitors as well. In the end, it all depends on what the users wants to achieve when deciding to buy one computer monitor or another.

Every type of computer display is g characterized by certain parameters which are very important to be analyzed when deciding on the performance of that computer display. In this respect, LCD computer monitors also have to be analyzed in search for the same parameters which might show the users whether the monitor they are analyzing is a good one or not. These parameters are considered to be the luminance, the viewing angle, the viewing image size, the contrast ratio, the aspect ratio, the resolution, the response time, the refresh rate, the power consumption, the dot pitch and many others.

The luminance of the LCD computer monitor is usually measured in so-called candelas per square meter, the viewing image size is measured diagonally and the result is usually given in mm. The viewing angle is considered to be the maximum angle that has been evaluated to be the one at which images can be viewed on the computer screen. The power consumption as many of the users are familiar with is being measured in watts it is very important for the users to know how much their computer monitor consumes in on mode and in standby mode as well. The response time presented by the monitor represents the necessary time in which a certain pixel from the computer screen can go from active to inactive and afterwards to the initial state, the active one. The refresh rate deals with the number of times in which the computer display is being illuminated in only one second.

Many specialists and users have many times compared LCD computer monitors with Cathode Ray Tube type of monitors in order to establish which are the main advantages and disadvantages related to both of these types of monitors. In the case of LCD computer monitors it has been considered as a very important advantage the fact that they are compact and light, the fact that in general they present a very low power consumption which is very important for the customers, most of them do not present any type of geometric distortion and also, they are rugged. Among the main drawbacks that have been discovered within certain models of LCD computer monitors important have been considered to be the low contrast ratio, the fact that some of them present a limited type of viewing angle which can lead to the variation of color and saturation, the fact that others have been discovered to present a certain uneven backlighting which led to all sorts of distortion such as the brightness one. In addition, certain models have also been considered to present a slow type of response tome which can also affect the quality of the monitor and of the computer itself. Some of them also include input lag, which is considered to be a disadvantage for LCD computer monitors.

Another important aspect related to LCD computer monitors is the fact that it is believed that they are not usually produce with dead pixels, which is very good. Certainly, this is not a general characteristic for all models of LCDs. In general it has been considered for them to be less likely to present dead pixels than the Cathode Ray Tube type is. Another important aspect related also to pixels in LCD computer monitors is the fact that they include such pixels which have the ability to remember if we can say so the particular color that they have received and remain unchangeable. This is called image persistence and is also a very important characteristic of LCD computer monitors.

Another possible problem related to LCD computer monitors is related to glare. It can be usually caused by the relationship established between lighting and screen. The glossy type of LCD computer monitors, as well as the curved type of CRTs, is considered to present this drawback more often than the matte finish type of Liquid Crystal Display types of monitors or the flat screen type of Cathode Ray Tube types. This is why users have to take this aspect in account when deciding what type of LCD computer monitor to buy. Also, the other important parameters as the luminance, the contrast and the aspect the ratio, the response time, the power consumption, the dot pitch, the viewing angle and many others are very important for the user to become familiar with before choosing a computer monitor that might prove to be a very good choice for them.
