There is a REAL LED and it was called Oled (if I recall) these displays had issues with brightness being that Light Emitting Diodes can only achieve at best what use to be called "Room Temprature" light Emmisions.

The industry coupled LCD to LED (backliit) and started coining the phrase WLED, and LED Which by no means does justice to the TRUE LED technology. In the early days LED's were coupled with Flourescnet lights to produce both brighter lights, longevity and quality and they also were referred to as LED's. (and they weren't either)

I bought an AOC Wled myself thinking we were out of the dark ages for this type of capitalist exploitation but assumed we weren't, nevertheless its an excellent Monitor & TV and should last 10 years at least however it REALLY is not LED, for one reason it could not be as bright as it is. Secondly I can see the Liquid Crystal elemets already turned blacks to greys (I abuse my monitors 24/7)

I would really really like to OWN a true LED monitor in my lifetime, they have lower EM emmission (less eye damage), comsume far less energy, produce crisper quality (My AOC is 2ms!), and produce less heat (LCD are in the plasma arena for this).

But thats like asking for an electric car that isn't simply gas powered electric or a flywheel technology, aint gonna happen!

LED Monitors are NOT just LCD-Monitors with LED-Backlighting.

Until recently no one would have called an LCD Monitor with LED backlighting an LED-Monitor - until the some marketing-retards thought: "hey it has an LED backlight, let's market it as LED monitor". How will those idots market real LED monitors? true-led-eco-xxl-bbq-xxl monitor?

I have TFT LCD ViewSonic's VA1703wb. Recently I bought their new technology LED Eco Green range VA1931wma-LED. But I found my old TFT is better than new LED one.

LCD is presenting soft color and brightness/contrast. But LED's contrast is very high. Feeling uncomfortable, even I switched color mode in sRGB.

I don't think LED is good for Developer/Designer.

Choice is your's....!!!!!

LED and LCD monitors are based on the same basic technology for image display but differ in the kind of back lighting used. While LCD monitors use cold cathode fluorescent lamps for back lighting, LED monitors use light emitting diodes. This is the main difference between the two display technologies. So LEDs are a type of LCD monitors.

I have an Asus 24" Lcd full HD monitor for my computer. I recently bought an Acer laptop with a led monitor and i can say that the luminosity, colour and angle view is better. I also noticed that long exposure to the monitor dosn´t tire my eyes as much.

Just want to post what OtheHill said bout LCD & LED
BOTH are LCD displays. LED actually just refers to the type of back lighting used in that type of LCD display.
LED back lighting is considered better than florescent for a number of reasons and is generally more expensive.

I think it's true better price better quality!:)
