Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX

As you probably already know if you read our previous article, the Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX uses a new concept of two connected monitors that help each other in providing more applications for the user: the main display is a 22-inch LCD with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels, 300 cd/m² brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio, while his little partner of 7 inches has 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 200 cd/m² brightness and 400:1 contrast ratio.

Why do we need a dual monitor when the two displays are not even equal, and what was so special about this to impress the Customer Electronics Show visitors this year in Las Vegas?
That’s because the little screen is the key entry to a new multimedia level by providing built-in 2MP web camera, dual-array microphone and speaker, these besides the normal monitor functions.

You can use the 7-inch monitor for Instant Messaging, media players, Skype, calendar and other applications, while continuing your main work on the 22-inch screen.
Everything sound good but here’s what it’ll make it sound great: DisplayLink has just announced to add its USB Display Technology to this monitor model, removing the need for additional power connectors between the main monitor and the smaller one.

So if you get the Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX youcan place its smaller brother in any position convenient for you, like above or on a side.
You can also switch between portrait and landscape modes.
Now it really deserves the Innovations Award honoree at CES 2008, doesn’t it?

I really love this concept, i have a 18 inch monitor for my chat apps, and this would clean up my desk.
