The widescreen LCD monitors become more and more popular in the detriment of the CRT ones and there are various valid reasons for this. First of all the crystal liquid displays are able to provide a much better image quality than the cationic ray tube monitors. Another important aspect of the LCD monitors is the fact that they weigh and use far less space then the CRT monitors and that is extremely essential nowadays. Now we want things that are as lightweight as possible and which can fit anywhere.
Another important aspect of these monitors is the fact that they are very energy-efficient, a quality which is praised nowadays. I am sure that you are aware of the precarious state in which the environment is, with all the pollution and such. It is important for us to protect it as much as possible and we can do so with an energy-efficient electric device. I am not saying that this is all it takes to save the environment, but it is a start and it is better than nothing. More and more widescreen LCD monitors appeared on the market and I am going to give you some information about them in what follows.

Before you decide which monitor you want to buy, you should determine the size that you wish the monitor to have. The monitors can range from 14 to 22 inches and you should base this choice depending on what you usually do on the computer. A larger computer monitor will be suitable for the people who like to watch movies or play games and such. The experience will be much more enjoyable when using a larger computer monitor. For the casual users a smaller monitor will be much more suitable as it will enough for tasks such as web browsing, and such. You should consider the amount of money that you can spend on the monitor and the size of the desk where you want to place it.

The aspect ratio is important as well. The earlier models had a 4:3 aspect ratio but the newer models have a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is able to display the widescreen movies without any distortions. There are also different types of widescreen LCDs such as Twisted Nematic, Vertical Alignment, and In-plane Switching. Each type has its pros and cons. The Twisted Nematic LCD has the fastest response time however it has the weakest color quality. The Vertical Alignment ones can be viewed from multiple angles, which is not possible in the case of some LCD monitors, but they do not have a very fast response time. The IPS monitors have the fastest response time, and have very high-quality images but they are very expensive.
